THE HOME'S HISTORY

AMENITIES
The Craft House was built in 1920 for Jean Spears, Jacksboro's local pharmacist, in what was a bustling town of oil and ranching. In 1950, JD and Louise Craft purchased the home for their family. They were well known for their passions of ranching, cooking, crafting, gardening, baseball, and golf. Among the 3.5 acres of shady trees were the home, two barns, and even pet deer. Each member of the Craft family left behind a special legacy that can still be experienced here.

The home maintains its original Monterey Colonial architectural style with four bedrooms and two full baths, a front balcony, a sitting room and living room, and formal dining and full kitchen. Following modifications throughout the years, the home was purchased from the Crafts in 2018 and restored to celebrate its past beauty. The Craft House Retreat opens to creatives of all kinds in the fall of 2020, just in time to commemorate the home's 100th birthday. We thank the Craft family for allowing us to carry on their family's name and memory.

We welcome you to come stay for a retreat, a reunion, a workshop, or just a relaxing getaway. Our home sleeps 12. The maker-space downstairs can also host receptions, weddings, dinners, or other events. We would love for you to come stay with us sometime soon.
The home accommodates 12 guests at a time, with three twin beds in each of the four bedrooms. One bedroom is located downstairs adjacent to a full bathroom. The other three rooms are upstairs with the second full bathroom and plenty of storage for personal items.
A continental breakfast is provided and sourced locally when possible. We also have coffee and drinks throughout your stay. Guests are welcome to use our full kitchen, so feel free to bring your preferred ingredients or meals. We provide a list of local restaurants and popular activities to enjoy during your stay. You are welcome to dine in the breakfast area of the kitchen, the sunroom, or enjoy the backdoor patio dining area.

We have a wonderful licensed massage therapist who will be glad to make house-calls during your stay. Please notify us if you're interested so we can connect you with her and her services.

Our maker-space is located downstairs with twelve 30" x 60" work tables, a layout/cutting table, a light box, design boards on the walls, and a pressing station. We also have a few items provided by our local quilt shop — Seams Sew Right — for those last-minute needs, or you can easily stop in their shop just a few blocks from the house. We also offer a range of Craft House souvenir items to remember your stay.
